  • “Smart Cycling” training seminar conducted by the League of American Bicyclists
    December 14, 2019  1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
2320 North Ave, Chico, CA 95926, USA

Our community has long been a progressively, bicycle friendly place, that welcomes all levels of riders," said Ann Schwab, Vice President of Chico Velo. Through a partnership between Chico Velo and BCPH, seminars will be conducted to teach and certify instructors who will offer classes to build and develop bicycle-riding skills for children and adults. "Our goal is to get more people and families on their bikes," said Ann.

Evidence shows the more experience and confident a rider has, the more likely they are to use bicycling as a sustainable mode of transportation and a healthy recreational activity.

Once trained, League Certified Instructors will provide “Smart Cycling” classes for adults interested in increasing their cycling skills. Instructors will also join BCPH staff to provide classroom skills and education for students of Chapman and Citrus Elementary schools in Chico and Plumas and Sierra Avenue Elementary schools in Thermalito.

A favorite holiday tradition, Tomáseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas returns to the Cascade Theatre with all new stories, music and dances that celebrate Irish culture and the giving spirit of Christmas. A Celtic Christmas recreates the joy and innocence of a night before Christmas in a remote farmhouse in the west of Ireland–when the neighboring families gather around the fire to grace the wintry night with the melodies of traditional Irish Christmas carols, to knock sparks off the flagstone floor with fiery dances, and to fill the night with the laughter of their stories.
